Small design details - big impact
Yes, we can help you design and create a stunning unique floor with Amtico Décor LVT flooring, where adding small design details will have a big impact on your space.
First and foremost, you need to choose the patterned wood or stone tile of your choice. And there are some real beauties to choose from including Venetian parquet designs, unique floors designed in collaboration with The National Trust, and reimagined Victorian-style patterned tiles. Even geometrics!
Then, if you want to highlight a border, zone, or threshold between two rooms, you can select another colour or pattern to either contrast or complement the main floor. And you don’t need to stick to a single strip with your border, why not maximise the detail and stack it with colour or pattern. There’s no right or wrong way of doing it; you can design your floor, your way and with Amtico Décor, the choices are endless!

Here are two examples of Amtico Décor flooring tiles available, giving you a feel for the stone effect and wood effect patterns that are available. On the left is Amtico Décor DC296 Classic Argent with an Offset Stripe and Bevelled Diamond border in Onyx Marble, and on the right is Amtico Décor DC611 Venetian Parquet Berberis.
Bordering on WOW!
As you can see from the picture of the stone patterned floor we shared above, you can make a real statement with a border to complement the pattern of your chosen Amtico Décor floor. Amtico offers a great selection of borders in both classic and contemporary styles, to help you define spaces or to highlight particular areas.
So, where would you add a border? Well, patterned floors look neater and more distinguished with a border around them. But in general, borders are an easy was to create that extra sense of definition. Sometimes, a single strip will do the job. And you can obtain that from plain coloured tiles as much as using some of Amtico’s thin design stripping. The type of border you choose really depends on the floor you’ve selected and of course, the space in which the floor is to be laid. But we can help you with that.
The other areas where borders work really well are to define spaces. In a hallway, a border around the perimeter of the main floor does this very well, as well as working a border around the bottom of a staircase. But you might also want a border around a kitchen island, dining space or even a fireplace. Whether subtle or standout, this will really help frame the key areas of your home.

Here are two examples of Amtico Décor hallway floors we have installed in people’s Cheshire homes, both with lighter coloured perimeters and interesting borders to frame the central pattern.
The first, on the left, is the Amtico Décor Classic Azure* floor. As well as a bevelled diamond border, the hallway has the Signature Mirabelle Crème tiles laid around the perimeter. And on the right is the Amtico Décor Chequer Mono floor laid to a forty-five degree angle. The border features pure plain white tiles, with a graphite slate piping border.
Keep it seamless - from room to room and across open plan spaces
Amtico Décor is a great choice of LVT flooring in a situation where you’re looking to create a zone or framed area, especially in a large open place. For example, a space where you dine where you might lay a rug beneath the dining table and chairs; instead of a rug you can create a new ‘zone’ with a framed tiled pattern. Or perhaps you have a corner for home working or reading, why not change the tone of your floor or introduce a different pattern to give the area its own identity.
And the other area where the borders and design options from Amtico Décor give you flexibility is the transition from one room to another. This area beneath the doorway is referred to as a ‘threshold’. You might have a straight plank in the hallway but a patterned floor in a room leading off the hallway. By introducing a border or a piece of single stripping as a threshold, we can help you create a smoother, more elegant way of linking different flooring styles.

In these two examples, you can see how Amtico Décor helps frame a space and provides a seamless transition between two flooring styles across different spaces. On the left the Amtico Décor Geo Adelphi floor is used to elevate the space in front of the fireplace. The rest of the floor in the room is Darley Oak in the Amtico Spacia collection. A border has been included around the patterned area using the Piping border, Metro border and Diffusion Chambray 9mm design stripping. The finish is stylish, eye-catching and very elegant.
On the right, you can see two contrasting wood floors between rooms. In the lower part of the picture, the floor is Amtico Signature Buxton Oak laid to a straight plank, then in the top half, the floor is the stunning Amtico Décor Venetian Parquet Berberis floor with its feather-like pattern. To create a smoother link between the two floors, a Pyramid border with a Corner in Bordeaux Oak and Buxton Oak, as you can see above, works really well.
When your space is small - big patterns work
People often struggle for ideas when it comes finding a floor for a smaller space. From utility rooms to porches, you’ll be amazed how fantastic they will look like if you choose a patterned floor for these areas. And with porches, a lovely geometric pattern or Victorian inspired tiles will make a fantastic welcome when you open the front door.

Our customer wanted to make an impact with their entrance porch and we helped them achieve that by installing the Amtico Décor Classic Aquamarine floor with a bevelled diamond border and corners, and Amtico Signature Stucco Flax blocks around the perimeter of the main floor. The result is a stunning modern take on a heritage style floor!
*Please note the Amtico Décor Classic Azure floor is no longer available in the Amtico Décor collection. The closest match available is the Amtico Décor Classic Aquamarine floor.
