Bank Holiday season home improvements
Ah, May! The longer days, warmer weather and two bank holiday weekends allows more time to redecorate homes, revitalise rooms and even get the extension started. As much as we think holidays and BBQs, we also turn our attention to all those home improvements we’ve been putting off in recent weeks.

If you know about luxury vinyl flooring, then you’ll know it looks just like wood flooring and stone tiles, except it’s made from a high-quality vinyl, offering many practical living benefits. It’s warmer underfoot and incredibly easy to keep clean, so great for busy family homes; it’s waterproof, long-lasting and you can design your own floor to create something unique for you. Amtico luxury vinyl design flooring is great for just that, designing your very own floor, and the Signature range brings a choice of wood, stone and abstract tiles in different laying patterns, so you can get creative with patterns, borders or parquet formats. From hallways to dining rooms, kitchens to conservatories, we can help you finish that room before the Summer’s out with a floor that looks fab and stands up to busy family life too.

Carpet a little more exciting
When it comes to carpet, there’s no better time to inject colour and pattern into your home than this year, when bright hues and exciting shapes are the hottest thing in interiors since wood stoves. Well, you know what we mean. There are florals, there are patterns in muted tones, there are loud stripes – from designer collaborations such as Margo Selby at Alternative Flooring to the epitome of centuries experience in carpet design from Axminster, you will not find a more exciting selection of carpet. And in a lot of cases, they can be made into rugs and runners too – so if you don’t want to go wall to wall, you can still have the exciting colour and pattern combinations, in a final finish to suit you.

A rug can also be made from the Margo Selby carpet collection, to your exact specification with your choice of trims and finishes.
Let’s go outside
For the ultimate in hardwearing, you can now get carpet to go outside as much as inside. Alternative Flooring launched their ‘Anywhere’ floor this year which is a range of synthetic carpets that look just like natural sisal but are in fact made from 100% polypropylene. As well as being easy to clean, their hardwearing properties are so much so, you can lay Anywhere flooring on your decking or patio outside, in your orangery or conservatory, or even to your stairs. As you can with most of the floorcoverings from Alternative Flooring, you can have your own rugs or runners made from Anywhere, if you want to show a little of the original surface beneath. And for taking it outside, well exterior design could be the new trend!
