Parquet flooring – the number one flooring style?

Most of the time, even when people come into our showrooms to look for carpet or a stone effect luxury vinyl tile, they will spot the parquet flooring samples and ooze over them, “I love parquet.”  It’s so sought after, the quintessential flooring style for every British home – well, we wish anyway.  Revered by interior designers, parquet flooring has made a huge comeback in recent years and features in home style magazines as a look to go for when designing specific rooms, mostly lounges, dining rooms, studies, and sometimes kitchens.

Real wood versus wood effect
Most hardwood flooring styles are nowadays readily available in more affordable, practical flooring materials too.  Parquet is a prime example, where there are now luxury vinyl alternatives to the engineered hardwoods and solid wood planks.  Historically, parquet flooring descended from Versailles in 16th Century France where craftsmen set to cutting small pieces of wood and laying them to the floor in geometric shapes, before sanding and polishing them to give the final finish, hence the term parquet.  There are many laying patterns to parquet flooring, but the most popular by far today is herringbone.
Read on to find out more about the parquet flooring options we have at Flooring 4 You Ltd, and let us inspire you with some parquet flooring installations we have done recently too.
